Did you spot us in 2012?
The Voodoo wagons and trucks were out in full force in 2012, it’s hard to miss them, so get spotting. 2012 started at a great pace, as well as the usual pre season prep work we had Florence and the Machine as well as The Black Keys at Alexandra Palace. We also returned to Aintree for the Grand National which was our first outside event of the year, unfortunately the weather was not that great but the cold beer more than made up for it. Our wizardry skills were in full effect at the hugely anticipated BBC Radio 1 weekend at Hackney, with 60,000 people this has to be the biggest and best free event ever. The mighty Stone Roses had their reunion in Manchester, which was beyond crazy. These coupled with all our usual events such as V Festival, T in The Park and The Isle of Wight Festival meant that hundreds of thousands of people enjoyed some Voodoo magic this summer.
Best of 2011
2011 was another fantastic and busy year. Voodoo took on more events than in previous years and this led us into some unchartered festival territory. We took our wizardry to lots of boutique festivals, which included Cornbury, Secret Garden Party and both the Harvest festivals at Jimmy’s Farm and Alex’s. As well as these boutique festivals and being at our regular fixed calendar events we also found time to add some big new events such as Beachbreak, Boardmasters and Big Freeze to our schedule. Whilst 2011 was not as busy for band tours we still enjoyed doing the Arctic Monkeys, Kings of Leon, Bon Jovi and The Foo Fighters. 2011 also saw us back at Wembley Stadium to wave some more of our Voodoo magic around the place and we hope to bring even more to our national and one of the world’s most iconic stadiums in 2012/13.
Voodoo goes sub-zero (again!)
For English football fans the holy grail must be the Bobby Moore suite at Wembley stadium, the perfect view of the perfect pitch needed the perfect pint. So we took a big gulp when we were asked to create some new bars at the renowned Wembley stadium, especially when the beer had to be served at 2 degrees or below. 2 degrees? We thought about it and knew using our beer wizardry we could do better. By having bespoke python’s and cooling equipment all of the bars Voodoo has installed at Wembley are operating consistently at 0 degrees, with the ability to go colder (if you really want to!). It just goes to show that those companies who invest in the development of their dispense systems coupled with our expertise can achieve the impossible in product dispense, speed, temperature and quality.
Voodoo arrives in Europe
Voodoo entered the European market for the first time in 2010 and we are excited about more festivals and band tours coming up outside the UK. Voodoo was lucky enough to continue with the Green Day tour over in Ireland at Marlay Park in Dublin. This was another great event in which we worked closely with the guys from Heineken Europe for the first time. Next stop was Punchestown for the famous Oxegen festival and despite some typical festival weather (rain and wind!) this job proved to be a real pleasure with lots of ice cold Heineken which was served at below 2 degrees for the whole event, now that is cold.
Best of 2010
2010 saw Voodoo induct and train some new wizards for what was a cracking year. We kicked off the season with the traditional curtain raiser of Radio One’s big weekend, this time in Bangor (north Wales). It was then onto another Bangor. This time in Northern Ireland for Snow Patrol’s homecoming. The band tours were happening thick and fast with Rage against the machine in London and Green Day in both Manchester and Ireland. We also covered both Oxegen and T in the Park over the same weekend for the first time. 2010 saw us at the Big Chill festival for the first time, although the late night bars took the chill out of it!! August continued to be manic with the V Festivals followed closely by Reading Festival and then the summer season finished as it started with another band tour, this time it was the turn of Muse and Ozzy Osborne. After a brief rest the Voodoo crew were to finish the year in the snow in Manchester and London for Madness and Deadmau5.
Record breaking 2009
Voodoo had a record breaking 2009 when our MDU machines were installed at the Oasis tour in Heaton Park, Manchester – the highest number of MDUs ever used at an event in the UK. We were also the solution for mass volume alcohol dispense at the Oasis Tour, Take That Circus Tour and the grand finale of the festival season for Voodoo was Coldplay at Wembley Stadium.
And as if that didn’t keep us busy enough, we enjoyed our 9th consecutive year at T in the Park and our 11th consecutive year at both the V Festivals. This year saw Voodoo undertake concerts and festivals where Carlsberg supply the beer, which meant our first time at Leeds Festival, and we were delighted to be the dispense team at Sonisphere – this was the festival’s first year, and with Knebworth as its venue – we can’t wait to get back.
Victory at Wembley
Q4 2009 saw us secure a contract with Wembley stadium to build new ‘super bars’ for the Gold and Silver suite Club Wembley members.
By employing cutting edge technology and a bespoke design, Voodoo delivered our coldest pint ever with a running average temperature of 0.0 degrees on lager – excellent for a venue such as Wembley who need to pre-pour for all the half time thirsty drinkers, and still present them with ice cold beer – pure magic!
Voodoo wizards go green
Our technical wizards successfully designed bespoke ‘green’ equipment for the Eden Project in Cornwall. Voodoo’s equipment was used at the live music event Eden Sessions 2009 which hosted bands such as Kasabian, Oasis, Razorlight and The Kooks amongst others.
Imagine an MDU being made from an old Ford Cortina…
The Eden Project is known for its commitment to green issues and here at Voodoo we felt we could do our bit to help as well – welcome to the recycled MDU.
Other than the switches and cable, the entire machine is made from recycled steel, and all other components were refurbished contributing to an even lower carbon footprint.
